Cairo-Cyrano
Dutch defence
1. c4 f5 2. d4 Nf6 3. g3 g6 4. Bg2 Bg7 5. Nf3 O-O 6. O-O d6 7. Nc3 Nc6 8. d5
Ne5 9. Nxe5 dxe5 10. Qb3 Kh8 11. Rd1 a6 12. c5 Rb8 13. Qb4 h6 14. h3 g5 15. e4
f4 16. g4 h5 17. f3 hxg4 18. hxg4 Nxg4!!?
[A purely intuitive sacrifice. In this line of the Leningrad dutch Defence black is forced to look for an attack on the king's side at all costs. A lesser active approach would bring to a sure defeat, because white could develop his forces whithout problems and exploit a big positional and spatial advantage. This was a very difficult decision, because black's attack doesn't have a forced continuation but grows slowly following a precise plan. Worth considering was 18... Qe8 delaying the sacrifice for one move]
19. fxg4 Bxg4 20. Rd2
[Commenting the game, my great opponent criticized this move as time consuming, but after 20. Rd3 Qe8 Black's attack is very strong and 20... f3!? is also interesting]
20... Rf6
[Now if 20... Qe8 21. Bf1 and white's rook can reach h2]
21. Qa4
[Black is preparing an attack on the king's side. White's task is very difficult: on his king's side he has only the bishop, so he must find the right coordination of his forces - at the moment on the queen's side. After 21. Bf1 Rh6 22. Rh2 Rxh2 23. Kxh2 Qe8 Black's attack is very dangerous]
21... Rh6 22. Qc2 Bh5
[Preparing a pawn rush]
23. Rd3 Rh7!!
[Leaving the dangerous diagonal c1-h6. This "silent" move was the most diffucult decision of the whole game.]
24. c6
[Interesting was also 24. Ne2!?]
24... g4 25. cxb7 Be8
[Now the queen must reach the h line]
26. b3 Qd6 27. Rb1 Rxb7
[There is no hurry: white is quite passive]
28. Rb2 Qh6 29. Qf2 Rb6
[The queen rook is also arriving on the king's side. It looks quite simple...]
30. Kf1 Rf6 31. Ke1 Qh2 32.Rbd2
[What else? If 32. Bf1 g3]
32... f3 33. Bxf3 Qh5! 34. Kd1 Bh6 35. Rc2 gxf3
[And black recovers his piece, mantaining the pressure]
36. Bxh6 Qxh6 37. Rcd2 Qf4 38. Kc2 Rh1 39. Re3
[Other ideas are worse, e. g. a) 39. Kb2 Bb5 40. Nxb5 axb5 41. Re3 b4! b) 39. a4 Bg6! c) 39. d6 cxd6 40. Nd5 Qxe4 41. Nxf6 Qc6+]
39... Bh5 40. b4
[If 40. Nd1 Rxd1! 41. Rxd1 Rg6 followed by ...Rg2]
40... Rg6 41. Re1 Rxe1 42. Qxe1 Rg2 43. Rf2 Qg3 44. Nd1 Bg6
[And now white is hopeless.]
45. Kb3 Qh4 46. Re2 Qxe1 47. Rxe1 Re2 48. Rh1+ Kg7 49. Nc3 Re3 50. Kc2 Bxe4+
51. Nxe4 Rxe4 0-1
