All Nations Chess League (ANCL)

ANCL is one of the largest on line chess league; we play 90+5 slow matches,
we have our own rooms at playchess.com. The league is free to join.
All participants in the ANCL must have a full Playchess account (including a serial number), 20 slow games and a rank of knight or higher. Any player who has previously been found using assistance in rated games will be refused entrance to participate in the ANCL league.
we have a main site and a forum, at present there are 14 teams from all over the world, each team can have up to 12 members usually a captain and 1 or 2 vice captains.
Each week a line up of 6 players is made by captain to play against another team.
You then if chosen any given week, (you may well not play every week), use ANCL forum to arrange your match with your opponent agreeing on a time and day to play,
Also at ANCL we have a teaching school, simuls or lessons are given at playchess usually in room 5, where your participation /questions would be welcomed and answered, Lessons usually last for an hour each time, unless the teachers get so enthralled at the Questions they lose track of time.

All the above and more details can be seen at
Main site http://anclchess.net/
If anyone is interested and would like to join us, please do, it takes around 5-7 days to be accepted, please use your playchess nick when registering as user name. Once accepted you will then be added to forum site http://anclchess.net/forum/index.php

When 2 IM meet in ANCL...

There are some international masters playing in ANCL and this season there was a shock in the first round:
TheButcher - FedorseevVladimir ANCL , 19.06.2010

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.h3 0-0 6.Nf3 e5 7.d5 a5 8.Bg5 Na6 9.g4 Nc5 10.Nd2 c6 11.Be2 Bd7 12.h4 Qb6 13.0-0
and not 13.Rb1? Nxg4 14.Bxg4 Nd3+ 15.Ke2 Nxf2 with advantage to black
13.Bxf6!?is not of course what white wants to play in this variation the black squares will soon be weak and without this bischop no attacks can succed.
13...Qxb2 14.Rc1 Qb6
very passive play  14...Rfc8!? is more thematic and another way is:14...cxd5 15.cxd5 (15.Bxf6? Bxf6 16.Nxd5 Bxh4 is good to black) 15...b5 with more or less equality ;in this kind of set up ,one thing is good to remember :to take on d5 is only good if ..b5 can follow.
15.Be3 with a draw offer
15...Qd8
again too passive 15...a4 preventing Na4 is better I think
16.Kg2 h5 17.gxh5 Nxh5 18.Bxh5 gxh5 19.Qxh5 Nd3 20.Rg1 !f5
20...Nxc1 may hold 21.Kh1 f6 22.Rxg7+ Kxg7 23.Bh6+ Kh8 24.Bxf8+ Kg8= but I understand that black avoided this line on the board
21.Kh2 Rf7
21...f4?? 22.Rxg7+ Kxg7 23.Rg1+ winning  on spot.
22.Nf3 f4
22...Nxc1 23.Ng5 Qf6 24.Qh7+ Kf8 25.Qh5! Kg8 26.Bxc1 with a great advantage to white
23.Ng5 Re7??
23...Qf6 is the only move to stay alive 24.Rb1 fxe3 25.fxe3 but white is much better
24.Qh7+ Kf8 25.Rcd1+- fxe3 26.Rxd3 Bf6 27.Qh6+ Rg7 28.Rxe3 Kg8 29.Reg3 Qe7 30.Nh7
1-0
Good play from TheButcher .

  1. In the game mentioned, while my opponent was playing d4, c3, e3, a3 and h3 plus putting a couple pieces on passive squares I had managed to complete development except for castling and connecting R’s. In the process he had also abandoned any semblance of influence on the center by playing d4xc4. The result was crushing defeat for him.Players are often encouraged to not study openings at all or go to the opposite extreme and study an opening (usually an inferior one) until they know it like the back of their hand. In the latter case they are told that’s a way to win more games. Once out of their book knowledge everybody plays to their rating though.

I agree with Javel not better my game.Good play from TheButcher .
I played very badly and I are very displeased. Sorry. Affected unusual time control
But the course of 16. ... h5 deserves the award "??" because after this course open all lines of attack on black. This is a key problem in the party
    Noteworthy 16. ... Ne8 with the idea 17. ... f5 and gradually, a pawn to be affected
